COLORFEST I

This was painted as a demonstration in a class workshop! Back in those days I could do a 5-day Painting Intensive and so I could manage to do more ambitious paintings. It was started in the workshop in Connecticut and finished in my Florida studio.

I remember being asked about the meaning of these Colorfest Paintings and I said “they are about nothing”. I was informed that all art means “something”, but I insisted that this was only about color and shape and there were no hidden meanings to it. Can artists really be that simple?
