Drip, Drip, Drip (Ice in Florida)

It does freeze here in Zephyrhills, but not often. I believe this event was in 2010, but I couldn’t trust the EXIF information on the photograph, as I knew it was earlier than what was stated there. In any case, it did freeze at night, and the sprinklers in my community were pre-set to come on sometime during the night, and this was the result early the following morning as the sun was coming up. I was leaving my community early and had the old point-and-shoot camera in my purse. I painted this for a show at Carrollwood Cultural Center called “Waterworks” and I was pleasantly surprised to find this image in the photo archives. “Perfect” I said out loud to my computer and embarked on the process of making it into a painting.
