FLOWERS WITH A PERUVIAN SCARF

Oil on canvas   18X24   Gallery Wrapped  $625

PayPal: Buy Flowers with a Peruvian Scarf

One of my painting students went to Machu Picchu and came back with this glorious scarf/weaving that I had to immediately put into a still life. I found the flowers in my local Publix market, but had a hard time over the flower colors. That pink and blue/purple gave me fits and took me all over looking for fluorescent oil paint. I did find what I needed and bought more than I’ll ever use. This is something that I seldom do; buy tubes of paint to match something I’m painting. I’m supposed to be able to mix what I see with the colors I have on my palette, but with this painting the colors mixed in dirty or muddy renditions of what I wanted. So, fluorescent oil paint in pink and blue was the answer! The scarf was much more complicated as it had a complex pattern of black threads throughout the colored sections and in the end I had to paint all that out and leave it with blocks of color. I apologize to that Peruvian (Woman?) For editing that amazing creation.
