This is a video of a presentation that I did for a talk about Impressionism at Carrollwood Cultural Center. I hope you will like what you see here. I have tried to explain what the word “Impressionism” means as it applies to that loose-knit group of artists who lived and worked in Paris in the middle of the 1870s decade. Since I made this Video I have since learned of some exciting new (at least to me) ideas about Monet’s eyesight and unique vision abilities that allowed him to see heightened colors. Others were still rooted in the Classical style of painting and never did adopt the newer ways of the core group. Somehow all these men and women were lumped together as “Impressionists” which is a term that has real meaning in art, going way back, but actually means nothing as associated with this group of people.
