This painting is a “prequel” to my Genesis Series of seed paintings. It was painted early on in my use of Egg Tempera and it is one that I loved, both for the subject and the magic of using Egg Tempera pigments. Red out of the tube, mixed with oil is often muddy, but pigments mixed with egg yolks are so clean it knocks your head off.
