FAMILY TREASURES
Oil on canvas 12 x 12 $225.00

The title of this painting refers, somewhat sardonically, to these Chinese export jars that were in my father’s family since the 18th century. What you don’t see in my painting are the multiple breaks and repairs to the lids and upper necks that render these lovelies worthless on the Antiques marketplace. My dear mother told me that one day that my fortune was probably wrapped up in these “family treasures” and so, several years ago, I had them appraised. Sadly, I’ll get more for the painting than I will for the objects themselves. However, since I can’t take them with me when I pass on, I’ll make a deal with you. Buy the painting and I’ll give you the jars for free. Maybe in time they all will escalate in value!
