POMEGRANATES IN A GREEN GLASS BOWL
Oil on canvas 12 x 24 Private Collection
One of my students, Natalia, brought me a pomegranate. I love the look of them, but don’t like to eat them; too tart and too seedy. But it was calling me and so I went out to find more which was not a problem as my local Publix market had a bin full of them.
I wanted to add a nice drapery to the painting but couldn’t find a thing in the store, and I also wanted to pair them with green glass. EBay provided the bowl and plate on the first search, and Google provided a design for symbolic pomegranates for the cloth which I made by downloading the image and turning it into a design I could transfer to fabric by ironing it on.
So the setup was complete and all I had to do was paint it! Simple.
